The Isle of Man's Gambling Supervision Commission (GSC) has revoked Metagrow Solutions' gaming software provider license after discovering one of its directors was involved in cybercrime activities in Singapore.

Malaysian national and Metagrow director Seow Gim Shen received a 14-week prison sentence in October for attempting to purchase stolen personal information of 9,369 individuals from an online gambling website.

The data was stolen by Sun Jiao, allegedly part of a Chinese-run global cybercrime syndicate in Singapore. Sun was among seven individuals arrested in September for malicious cyber operations.

The scheme began in 2019 when Seow met Sun at a Cambodian casino through a Chinese national. Seow then connected Sun with Kong Chien Hoi, a fellow major shareholder in Rexit, a Malaysian financial services software company.

The three individuals created a chat group called "Malaysian Data" to negotiate the sale of stolen information. Sun provided a sample database containing over 9,000 records, of which 32% were determined to be fully contactable via SMS. Sun also claimed access to data of more than one million Thai nationals.

The operation unraveled following Sun's arrest, with investigators discovering connections to Seow and Kong through phone evidence.

Metagrow Solutions, licensed by the GSC in March 2023 and incorporated in August 2022, lost its license as the commission stated it was "no longer satisfied [the company] was under the control of a person of integrity." The GSC continues to investigate other aspects of the case and plans to release a more detailed statement upon conclusion.
