The facility, which ended live greyhound racing in March 2020, currently operates with about 300 historical horse racing (HHR) machines and offers simulcast parimutuel wagering. As the Poarch Band of Creek Indians' subsidiary, Wind Creek Hospitality currently operates three tribal casinos in Alabama: Wind Creek Atmore, Montgomery, and Wetumpka.

Since the property lacks historical tribal ties, it will continue operating as a parimutuel wagering facility rather than converting to tribal land. The acquisition aligns with Wind Creek's expansion strategy, following their developments in Pennsylvania and the upcoming Wind Creek Chicago Southland in Illinois.

The McGregor family, who has owned the facility since 1992, will now focus on their Victoryland property and advocate for unified gaming legislation in Alabama. The transition comes amid Alabama's evolving gaming landscape, particularly following the state Supreme Court's 2022 ruling on electronic bingo machines.

The Poarch Indians, known for their charitable contributions, already support various Birmingham organizations, including the Birmingham Zoo and Birmingham Promise scholarship initiative.
