The Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing match has shattered betting records across multiple sportsbooks, becoming the most wagered-on combat sports event in history.

BetMGM reported the fight generated three times more bets and four times the handle compared to any previous combat event. The most popular prop bets were on Tyson to win by KO/TKO/DQ (+250), Tyson on points (+1100), and Tyson to win in Round 1 (+1400).

DraftKings saw record-breaking action with 3.5 times more bets and handle than their previous record holder, the Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia fight. BetRivers reported the bout generated more money than their next four most wagered-on fights of 2024 combined.

At 888 Sport, the majority of tickets were placed on Tyson, with the strongest betting activity coming from Canada and the UK. Despite being the underdog at +180, Tyson attracted 67% of tickets and 53% of the handle at BetMGM prior to the fight.

Craig Mucklow, Vice President of Trading at Caesars Sportsbook, compared the handle to that of an NFL Monday Night game, noting the unique generational appeal of the matchup. The fight saw Paul, 27, defeat Tyson, 58, in an eight-round unanimous decision, with Tyson reportedly earning $20 million and Paul $40 million.

Barstool Sports' Dave Portnoy criticized the event as a marketing ploy, praising Paul's promotional abilities while questioning those who believed the aging Tyson had a realistic chance of winning.
