Montana Man Gets 140 Years Behind Bars for Fatal Four Aces Bar Shooting
A Montana man has been sentenced to 140 years in prison for murdering his wife and a bartender at the Four Aces Bar in Superior, Montana, in 2023. Kraig Walter Benson, 49, was convicted of killing Jenny Benson, 49, and Logan Gardner, 43, after suspecting them of having an affair.

The murders, captured on security footage, showed Benson retrieving a gun from his Chevrolet Tahoe after briefly leaving the bar. Upon returning, he shot his wife in the head at point-blank range, then shot Gardner as he attempted to flee. After shooting his wife again and firing three more shots at Gardner, Benson triggered the fire alarm and fled the scene. He was later arrested driving with a flat tire.
During the trial, Benson claimed to have no memory of the incident and attempted to deflect blame onto his wife, describing her as "a liar and a cheater." His testimony drew gasps from courtroom attendees, particularly when he claimed to have "lost his best friend" the night of the murders.
Family members testified against Benson, with his daughter Paige calling him a "narcissistic person" and expressing fear for her safety. His former father-in-law addressed Benson directly, stating he hoped for a miserable life sentence.
The conviction in October 2023 came despite Benson's initial not-guilty plea to two counts of deliberate homicide and use of a weapon in a violent crime. The 140-year sentence reflects the severity of the premeditated double homicide at the small Montana cardroom and slots tavern.
