Fatal Vehicle Explosion at Trump Hotel Las Vegas Leaves 1 Dead, 7 Injured - FBI Investigating
A deadly explosion and vehicle fire occurred outside Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on New Year's Day 2025, resulting in one fatality and seven injuries. Two victims required hospitalization. Many hotel guests were evacuated to nearby Resorts World Las Vegas, and the FBI has joined the investigation.
The incident began at 8:41 a.m. PT when a vehicle, reportedly a Tesla Cybertruck, exploded in the hotel's valet area. Witnesses described hearing a massive explosion followed by intense flames and dark smoke visible along the Las Vegas Strip.

Multiple witnesses provided firsthand accounts of the explosion. One guest, posting as "ayackle" on X, reported: "I saw it pulled up, and it lowered itself like a bus, and boom it goes." Others described hearing sounds similar to "a dumpster being dropped" and feeling windows shake from the impact.
The explosion triggered the hotel's alarm system, prompting evacuation procedures. Fashion Show Drive remained closed as authorities investigated the scene.
This incident occurred hours after a separate mass casualty event in New Orleans, where a truck driven by Shamsud Din Jabbar, 42, killed 15 people and injured 35 others on Bourbon Street around 3:15 a.m. ET. The New Orleans attack is being investigated as terrorism after authorities discovered an ISIS flag, weapons, and explosives in the vehicle. There is currently no indication the two incidents are related.
The Sugar Bowl, scheduled for Wednesday in New Orleans, has been postponed to Thursday due to the attack.
