Electric Heater Fire Forces Brief Evacuation at Fontainebleau Las Vegas
A small electrical fire broke out on the 36th floor of the Fontainebleau Las Vegas on Sunday night, caused by an overheated motor in an electric room heater. The Clark County Fire Department responded to the scene at 2777 South Las Vegas Blvd. around 8:47 p.m.

The fire was contained to a single room and did not spread further. As a precautionary measure, guests were temporarily evacuated to the resort's BleauLive Theater. One guest was treated at the scene for shortness of breath after running down the stairs but was subsequently released.
This incident marks the second fire at the Fontainebleau in recent history, following a rooftop fire in July 2023, which occurred five months before the resort's opening. That earlier incident required more than 90 firefighters and 12 fire engines to extinguish, with smoke visible from miles away.
The timing of this latest fire comes 44 years and 10 days after the devastating MGM Grand hotel fire of November 21, 1980, which claimed 86 lives. However, it's worth noting that this tragic event was not the direct catalyst for implementing mandatory sprinkler systems in Las Vegas Strip guest rooms.
