Conor McGregor has announced plans for a boxing exhibition match against Logan Paul in India before making his UFC return. The former two-division UFC champion confirmed this through posts on X (formerly Twitter), dismissing rumors about a potential fight with UFC Featherweight champion Ilia Topuria.

McGregor revealed he's in preliminary discussions with the Ambani family to organize the exhibition bout. Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani, Asia's wealthiest individual, would potentially back the event through his Reliance Industries corporation.

The decision follows a trend of lucrative exhibition matches in combat sports. For reference, the recent Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight on Netflix generated over $17 million in ticket sales and attracted 108 million live viewers. Industry experts estimated Paul earned $40 million while Tyson received $20 million for the event.

Meanwhile, UFC president Dana White has teased major events for 2025, including a potential heavyweight unification title fight between champion Jon Jones and interim titleholder Tom Aspinall, which White describes as "probably the biggest fight in heavyweight history."

The upcoming UFC 311 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, on January 18 will feature two title bouts:

  • Islam Makhachev (UFC's #1 pound-for-pound fighter) defending his lightweight title against Arman Tsarukyan
  • Merab Dvalishvili defending his bantamweight title against Umar Nurmagomedov

While Jones has expressed interest in fighting Alex Pereira, sources suggest he might accept the Aspinall bout if the financial terms are favorable.
