The Connecticut Lottery launched a new $5 Championship scratch-off ticket celebrating UConn basketball's winning legacy. Available at over 2,800 retail locations statewide, the limited-edition tickets offer players chances to win up to $3.5 million in total prizes, including three top prizes of $50,000 each.

Players can win by matching their numbers to winning numbers, with multiplier options including 2X, 3X, 5X, and 10X the prize shown. The game features 1,026,500 total tickets with overall winning odds of 1 in 3.54.

This launch follows Connecticut's recent designation as the "Basketball Capital of the World," marked by highway signs near the Massachusetts border. The claim sparked controversy with Massachusetts, home to basketball's birthplace in Springfield and the NBA's Boston Celtics with their 18 championships.

UConn's basketball program boasts 17 NCAA national championships between men's and women's teams. Currently, the men's team ranks ninth with a 12-3 record, while the women's team sits at seventh with a 13-2 record in the 2024-25 season.

The teams play home games in Storrs and Hartford, occasionally appearing in New York City. As a Big East member, UConn faces speculation about potential future membership in the Big 12 or ACC conferences.
