Atlantic City to Get First-Ever Monopoly-Themed Boutique Hotel on Tennessee Avenue
A new Monopoly-themed boutique hotel, The Top Hat at The Orange Loop, is coming to Atlantic City in 2025. The project, led by RMS Capital, pays homage to the iconic board game that features Atlantic City's street names.
The three-story boutique hotel will feature distinct Monopoly-inspired design elements, including a top hat structure on the roof and a protruding racecar token on its façade. The development will include six guest rooms and 1,400 square feet of retail space on the ground floor.

Located on Tennessee Avenue within the Orange Loop district, the hotel will join a diverse neighborhood featuring restaurants, entertainment venues, and local businesses. While not offering gambling facilities, the hotel aims to attract visitors seeking a unique themed accommodation experience.
The project represents Atlantic City's ongoing efforts to diversify its tourism offerings beyond casino gaming. Mark Callazzo, RMS Capital's managing partner, describes the development as "a game changer for Atlantic City" that symbolizes the city's resilience and innovation.
Historical Connection: Atlantic City's relationship with Monopoly dates back to 1935 when Charles Darrow, inspired by The Landlord's Game popular among local Quakers, created Monopoly using Atlantic City street names. Today, 21 of the game's 22 street deeds reference actual Atlantic City locations, with Marvin Gardens in nearby Ventnor City being the sole exception.
The Monopoly brand continues to influence the gaming industry through slot machines and lottery games, with Light & Wonder holding exclusive rights to Monopoly-themed gaming products through Hasbro.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2024, adding another unique attraction to Atlantic City's evolving entertainment landscape.
