The Memorial Tournament 2022: Betting Guide and Course Preview at Muirfield Village
The PGA Tour returns to Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio for the 2022 Memorial Tournament presented by Workday. Founded by Jack Nicklaus in 1976, this prestigious event offers a $12 million purse with $2.16 million going to the winner along with 550 FedEx Cup points.
The recently renovated Muirfield Village, designed by Nicklaus himself, plays as a challenging 7,500+ yard par-72 featuring new irrigation, bunkers, greens, and added length. It's consistently rated among the PGA Tour's most difficult courses.
Patrick Cantlay defends his title after winning last year when Jon Rahm was forced to withdraw with a six-shot lead after testing positive for COVID-19. Cantlay aims to join Tiger Woods and Kenny Perry as the only three-time winners.
This year's strong field includes seven of the top-10 ranked players globally:
- Jon Rahm (+800) enters as betting favorite
- Patrick Cantlay (+1000) looks for third Memorial win
- Rory McIlroy (+1100) seeks first victory here
- Xander Schauffele (+1600) showing good form
- Collin Morikawa (+1800) runner-up last year
Other notable players include PLAYERS champion Cameron Smith, Jordan Spieth, and Bryson DeChambeau returning from injury. Rickie Fowler and Jason Day compete on sponsor exemptions.
The renovated course and elite field should provide an exciting test at one of the PGA Tour's premier events. With multiple past champions and top-ranked players competing, this year's Memorial Tournament promises to be another memorable edition of Jack's event.
