Street Outlaws Team Owner Sued After Fatal Las Vegas Hotel Attack
A lawsuit has been filed against TV drag racing team owner John Odom for allegedly failing to help Christopher Tapp, who died following an assault at Resorts World Las Vegas in 2023.

The civil suit, filed in Las Vegas court, claims Odom witnessed the attack by former wrestler Dan Rodimer but discouraged others from calling security. Odom, who owns Odom Racing and appears on Discovery Channel's Street Outlaws, allegedly told party attendees not to seek help after the incident.
The lawsuit also names Odom Racing, Resorts World Las Vegas, and Vegas Nights VIP as defendants. According to the complaint, Tapp lay injured in the bedroom for an extended period before security was contacted. When they arrived, Odom claimed Tapp had slipped and fell.
The Clark County Coroner's Office ruled Tapp's death a homicide caused by blunt force trauma. Prosecutors allege Rodimer attacked Tapp after he allegedly offered cocaine to Rodimer's stepdaughter. Rodimer has pleaded not guilty to murder charges.
Tapp, 47, had previously spent 20 years in prison for a wrongful conviction in the 1996 rape and murder of Angie Dodge in Idaho. After his 2019 exoneration, he received an $11.4 million settlement and became a major financial backer of Odom Racing.
Odom's attorney William Carter maintains his client was friends with Tapp but wasn't present during the incident. Odom himself has a criminal record, having served seven years in prison after pleading guilty to grand theft and writing bad checks in 2002.
