Penn Entertainment is converting 10 additional casino sportsbooks to ESPN Bet locations following its $1.5 billion, 10-year partnership with ESPN. This transition comes after Penn sold Barstool Sports in August 2023.

The new ESPN Bet locations include:

  • Ameristar Casino Hotel Council Bluffs (Iowa)
  • Hollywood Casinos in Grantville, York, and Washington (Pennsylvania)
  • Hollywood Gaming racinos in Youngstown and Dayton (Ohio)
  • Ameristar Casino Black Hawk (Colorado)
  • Ameristar East Chicago and Hollywood Lawrenceburg (Indiana)
  • Hollywood Casino Charles Town (West Virginia)

These additions join existing ESPN Bet sportsbooks in Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, and Ohio. The sportsbook is now available online in 19 states.

Hollywood Casino York will launch its ESPN Bet facility on Saturday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1 pm before the NFL Playoffs kickoff.

ESPN Bet currently holds 3-4% of the legal sports betting market share, according to Eilers & Krejcik, while FanDuel and DraftKings dominate with approximately 74%. The partnership integrates ESPN Bet odds into ESPN's daily programming and allows customers to link their online accounts to the ESPN Bet mobile app.

This expansion represents Penn's latest effort to increase its market presence after previous challenges with the Barstool Sports partnership, which ended when Penn sold back the brand for $1 due to regulatory concerns. The company originally invested $527 million in Barstool through two separate transactions in 2020 and 2023.

Penn previously partnered with William Hill for its sports betting operations before Caesars Entertainment acquired William Hill in April 2021.
