Palm Beach Kennel Club Gets Green Light for $20M Gaming Facility Relocation
The Palm Beach Kennel Club has received unanimous approval from county commissioners for a $20 million relocation project, marking a new chapter for the historic facility that opened in 1932.
The new 65,000-square-foot facility will be constructed at Congress Ave. and Cherry Rd., featuring a poker room, off-track betting facilities, and The Paddock restaurant. A 5,200-square-foot kennel will also be included in the development.

As part of the redevelopment, PBKC plans to sell 42 acres of its property to developers who intend to build a luxury high-rise condominium with 2,000 residencies and mixed-use space. The location's proximity to Palm Beach International Airport, which serves nearly eight million passengers annually, makes it particularly attractive for development.
The new casino facility, expected to open by 2027, will operate 24/7 and include a four-story parking garage with 900 spaces. While the facility cannot offer slot machines due to county restrictions, it maintains a partnership with the Seminole Tribe's Hard Rock Bet online sportsbook.
The Rooney family, who has owned the facility since 1972, has seen strong financial performance despite Florida's 2018 ban on greyhound racing. In fiscal year 2024, the cardroom generated $16.3 million in revenue, ranking among Florida's top three cardroom operations.
The relocation project represents a strategic move to maintain the facility's gaming operations while enabling significant real estate development in the Congress Avenue corridor.
