The Ohio Casino Control Commission (OCCC) has fined DraftKings $425,000 for two significant violations of state gaming regulations.

The violations include accepting prohibited college player proposition bets in March and allowing unauthorized funding methods for sports betting accounts.
DraftKings permitted 40,985 cash deposits totaling over $2.5 million at non-gaming retail locations between January 1, 2023, and March 5, 2024 - a method not approved by the commission.
Thomas J. Stickrath, OCCC Chair, emphasized the commission's commitment to maintaining gaming integrity and protecting Ohio citizens through strict regulatory compliance.
As part of the resolution, DraftKings must ensure all personnel receive proper training on:
- Laws governing college sports wagering
- Approved account funding methods
- Relevant policies and procedures
Earlier this year, Ohio banned individual college player props following a request from NCAA President Charlie Baker. The ban was implemented after reports of social media threats against collegiate athletes. In 2023, college player props represented just 1.35% of Ohio's total sports betting handle, accounting for $104.6 million of the state's $7.65 billion in total wagers.
A DraftKings spokesperson responded that the company remains committed to upholding regulatory standards and maintaining productive relationships with regulators in all jurisdictions where they operate.
