Nevada Slots Set All-Time Monthly Record Despite Overall Casino Revenue Decline in October
Nevada casinos achieved a record-breaking slot machine revenue in October 2024, though overall gaming revenue declined compared to the previous year. Slot machines generated $932.3 million, marking a 4.2% increase from October 2023 and setting an all-time monthly record.
Despite this milestone, total gaming revenue decreased by 2% to $1.286 billion, marking the 44th consecutive month exceeding $1 billion. This decline was primarily due to reduced performance in table games and sports betting, which fell by 16%.

Key performance indicators:
- Blackjack: Up 2% to $116.3 million
- Craps: Up 3% to $41.5 million
- Roulette: Down 30% to $24.2 million
- Baccarat: Down 23% to $69.1 million
- Sportsbook: Down 58% to $28.9 million
Las Vegas Strip revenue declined by 3% to $692 million, marking its fourth consecutive monthly decrease. Visitor statistics also showed a slowdown, with overall traffic in Southern Nevada decreasing by 1.8% to 3.56 million people, while convention attendance dropped by 13% to 559,000.
Through October 2024, Nevada's total gaming revenue reached $12.82 billion. To achieve a fourth consecutive year of record revenue, the state needs to generate over $2.7 billion in November and December combined.
This slowdown in brick-and-mortar gaming isn't unique to Nevada, with similar trends observed in other major gaming states including Iowa, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania through the first three quarters of 2024.
