Nevada Gaming Revenue Drops 4.2% in November, Second Monthly Decline
Nevada gaming revenue declined 4.2% year-over-year to $1.1316 billion in November 2024, marking the second consecutive monthly drop. The decrease occurred despite hosting the Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Slot machines generated $810.6 million, while table games, sports betting, keno, and bingo contributed $505.9 million. Slot revenue fell nearly 7%, while other gaming segments remained flat.
F1 car racing Las Vegas night
The Las Vegas Strip saw a 3.9% decrease to $788.7 million, with table games dropping over 5%. The decline was attributed to lower F1 attendance compared to the inaugural 2023 race and calendar timing, as November's final weekend was counted in December's results.
Some regional markets showed growth:
- North Las Vegas: Up 6% to $24.5 million
- Mesquite: Up 9% to $16.4 million
- Elko: Up 5% to $33.7 million
- Sparks: Up 8% to $15 million
Other major markets declined:
- Douglas County (South Shore Lake Tahoe): Down 20% to $14.4 million
- Washoe County (Reno): Down 6% to $76 million
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority reported positive outcomes:
- Overall visitation increased 0.6% to 3.31 million people
- The 2023 F1 race generated $1.5 billion in economic impact
- Convention attendance decreased 8%
Some local businesses reported negative impacts, including Jay's Market, which experienced a significant drop in fuel sales compared to pre-F1 periods. Despite these concerns, city officials maintain that the 2024 race was successful, citing increased visitor numbers despite lower convention attendance.
