NCPG's National Awards honor outstanding contributions in problem gambling and responsible gambling. Here's a comprehensive guide to the awards and nomination process.

Nomination Process:

  • Active NCPG Membership required
  • Awards recognize work completed January 1-December 31, 2024
  • All nominations must be submitted online
  • Nominations must meet criteria and include supporting materials
  • Awards Committee may request additional information

Judging Process:

  • NCPG volunteers serve as judges
  • Judging is segmented by award type

Dr. Robert Custer Award for Direct Service:

  • Honors long-term achievement in direct services
  • Requires three recommendation letters
  • One award given annually

Lifetime Award for Research:

  • Recognizes sustained research contributions
  • Requires three recommendation letters with research impact
  • One award given annually
  • Board/staff members ineligible

Annual Awards:

Don Hulen Award for Advocacy & Awareness:

  • Recognizes exceptional advocacy contributions
  • Requires one recommendation letter
  • Board/staff members ineligible

Joanna Franklin Award for Direct Service:

  • Honors excellence in treatment/recovery services
  • For treatment providers
  • Board/staff members ineligible

Jim Wuelfing Award for Prevention:

  • Recognizes prevention efforts
  • Open to individuals/organizations
  • Requires one recommendation letter

Jeffrey M. Beck Recovery Ambassador Award:

  • For individuals in recovery
  • Requires one year NCPG work experience
  • Requires one recommendation letter

Don Feeney Award for Responsible Gambling Excellence:

  • For gambling industry employees
  • Requires one year documented work
  • Requires one recommendation letter
