MLB Players Union Ends FanDuel Legal Battle, Signs New Marketing Agreement
The Major League Baseball Players Association's commercial arm has reached a licensing agreement with FanDuel Sportsbook, resulting in the withdrawal of their September lawsuit against the operator.
The new non-exclusive product and marketing licensing agreement involves MLB Players Inc. and OneTeam Partners, allowing FanDuel to develop player-centric features across its betting platforms in the US and Canada starting in 2025.

The original lawsuit, filed in the New York Supreme Court, accused FanDuel and Underdog Fantasy of unauthorized use of players' names and likenesses. While the FanDuel dispute is now resolved, the lawsuit against Underdog Fantasy remains active, along with separate litigation against DraftKings Inc. and Bet365 Group Ltd. in Philadelphia.
MLBPA Executive Director Tony Clark emphasized the agreement's role in expanding their group licensing program, while OneTeam President Frank Arthofer highlighted its potential to set new standards for online sports betting product player collaborations.
FanDuel President Christian Genetski expressed enthusiasm about developing new player-centric opportunities across their platforms through this partnership.
As MLB Players Inc. continues to manage the union's commercial activities, including licensing and corporate sponsorships, this agreement represents a significant step in bridging professional baseball and the sports betting industry.
