Las Vegas Sphere 2025: James Dolan Reveals Entertainment Plans and Programming Strategy
The Las Vegas Sphere is preparing for an exciting lineup of entertainment in 2025, with several key developments announced by Sphere Entertainment CEO James Dolan.
Multiple daily events will become standard practice, with "Postcard from Earth" screenings running alongside residency performances. This scheduling change begins with Anyma's New Year's Eve run and aims to boost ticket sales.
A major highlight for 2025 is the upcoming "Wizard of Oz" adaptation. The classic film will be condensed to 80 minutes and receive an $80 million visual and audio upgrade specifically designed for the Sphere's unique capabilities.

The venue plans to expand its content library by filming resident performances for future screenings. This strategy aims to preserve memorable concerts for future audiences, with Eagles and Dead & Company residencies likely to be captured.

However, the venue faces some challenges. The "V-U2: An Immersive Concert Film" has seen soft ticket sales, with over 80% of seats remaining unsold for upcoming shows. Ticket prices range from $100 to $246, with no current plans for price adjustments.
Regarding sports events, UFC CEO Dana White has indicated that while UFC 306 was successful, the high production costs make future sporting events at the Sphere unlikely.
Despite operating losses of $125.1 million for the quarter ending September 2024, the venue continues to innovate and adapt its programming strategy to maximize revenue potential and audience engagement.
