Henderson Teen Dies of Self-Inflicted Wound After Going Missing, Coroner Confirms
A 17-year-old Henderson girl who went missing on December 30 died by suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Clark County coroner's office. The body of Jennaleah Hin was discovered Sunday morning by a hiker in a desert area of Henderson, Nevada.
Hin, an A student at Foothill High School, left her home after an argument with her parents, telling family members "they wouldn't have to worry about her anymore." She departed without taking food, water, supplies, or a cell phone.

An extensive search operation was conducted involving multiple agencies, including:

- Local police departments
- Drug Enforcement Administration
- School police officers
- Search dogs, helicopters, and drones
- Volunteers on horses and off-road vehicles
Hin's body was found east of Sunflower Circle and Spanish Needle Street, approximately 17 miles southeast of Las Vegas. The coroner's office confirmed her identity on Monday, with no signs of foul play reported.
The teenager had been planning to attend nursing school in the fall and had never previously run away from home. Foothill High School Principal Jonathan Synold expressed deep sympathy in a statement to students' families, remembering Hin as "part of our Falcon community."
Community members have placed flowers and remembrances at the site where Hin was found, with many expressing their condolences and support for the family.
