Crypto.com has expanded its sports event contracts trading options beyond the Super Bowl, now including NFL conference championships, bowl games, and college football playoffs (CFP).

The platform now allows trading on two CFP semifinal games this week and the championship game scheduled for January 20 in Atlanta. The NFL playoffs begin Saturday, with conference championship games set for January 26.

Event contracts differ from traditional sports betting as they function as financial derivatives. Traders can speculate on "Yes" or "No" outcomes, with contract prices fluctuating based on projected results. Unlike standard sports bets that settle immediately after games, event contracts can be traded throughout their duration, offering multiple opportunities for profit.

Crypto.com's offering is unique as it's the first to accept cryptocurrency payments for event contracts, supporting approximately 350 different digital currencies. Winning positions are paid out in US dollars.

The move follows growing popularity in event contract trading, as seen on platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket during the 2024 presidential election season. Major financial services firms, including Interactive Brokers and Robinhood, are also entering this market, with some considering expansion into broader sports betting options.

The platform operates through Crypto.com | Derivatives North America, under Commodities and Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulation. While football remains America's most-wagered sport, Crypto.com hasn't announced plans for expanding event contracts to other sports after football season ends.
