Court records reveal Martin had a previous human trafficking charge from April involving a teenage victim in an unrelated case.
In separate casino-related crime news, Nebraska mental health therapist Pamela J. Helem, 69, received five years' probation for Medicaid fraud. She had billed Medicaid for patient treatment while actually gambling at a Council Bluffs, Iowa casino.
The court ordered Helem to:
- Pay $60,000 in restitution to Medicaid
- Undergo gambling addiction assessment
- Avoid all gambling establishments
- Complete community service
Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers has filed an additional lawsuit against Helem for Medicaid fraud. She faces up to two years in prison if she violates probation terms.
