Caesars Virginia Pushes Back $750M Casino Resort Opening to December 17
Caesars Virginia is postponing its grand opening in Danville from December 12 to December 17, 2024. The $750 million casino resort, developed by Caesars Entertainment and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), will delay both its casino and 320-room hotel opening.

General Manager Chris Albrecht acknowledged the delay, stating the team has been working continuously to prepare for opening. The casino is contacting guests with existing reservations to offer rescheduling or refunds.
The resort will feature:
- 1,500 slot machines
- 79 live dealer table games
- Caesars Sportsbook
- World Series of Poker Room
Opening night celebrations will include:
- First bet placed by Dennis Rodman at Caesars Sportsbook
- Fireworks display over the historic Three Sisters smokestacks
Room rates start at:
- $999 for opening week (sold out December 17-20)
- $299 midweek starting January 2024
- $599 weekends starting January 2024
Caesars Virginia will be the state's third permanent resort casino, following Rivers Casino Portsmouth and Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Bristol.
Local accommodation comparison shows the nearby Hampton Inn charges $183 per night including taxes and fees, significantly lower than Caesars' rates.
