The project is a joint venture between Caesars Entertainment and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), extending their successful partnership from North Carolina's tribal casinos. EBCI Chief Michell Hicks emphasized the project's significance for economic growth and job creation in the region.
The grand opening featured NBA legend Dennis Rodman as master of ceremonies, complete with a parade of luxury vehicles and a fireworks and drone show. Rodman placed the first sports bet - a $100 five-leg parlay on his former NBA teams.
The City of Danville expects to receive $35-40 million annually from the casino, collecting 6.5% of monthly gross gaming revenue plus additional taxes from hotel stays, dining, entertainment, and other resort amenities.
Locals have praised the development, with residents noting its transformative effect on the city and its Las Vegas-quality atmosphere, marking a new chapter in Danville's economic development.
