Bet365 CEO Denise Coates reduced her annual compensation to £150 million (US$188 million) in the latest financial year, despite the company's impressive financial performance.

The online betting giant reported increased revenues of £3.7 billion (US$4.7 billion), up from £3.4 billion, with pretax profits reaching £596.3 million (US$748 million). This marks a significant turnaround from the previous year's £72.6 million loss, which was primarily due to US expansion costs.

Coates' compensation history includes a record-breaking £421 million (US$528 million) in 2020, making her the highest-paid executive in British corporate history. Her total earnings from Bet365 over the past 15 years amount to approximately £2.5 billion (US$3.1 billion).

Despite criticism over her compensation, Coates maintains Bet365's headquarters in the UK, making it one of the country's largest corporate taxpayers and the biggest employer in Stoke-on-Trent. As a 51% shareholder, she opts to take most of her compensation as salary rather than dividends, resulting in higher tax payments.

The company continues its philanthropic efforts through the Denise Coates Foundation, donating £120 million (US$150 million) to various causes including health, education, and disaster recovery.

Coates founded Bet365 with her brother John two decades ago, transforming their father's betting shop business into a global online gambling leader. The Coates family ranks 20th on The Times of London's wealthiest Brits list, with a combined net worth of £7.5 billion (US$9.4 billion).
